Shoals Black History

The Shoals Black History Project began in 2017 as a community-sourced digital archive for local Black history. Community members have contributed more than a thousand newspaper articles, photographs, letters, yearbooks, and oral histories that helped to tell a larger story about Black life in the Shoals. We have also created an educators’ resource packet for teachers so that students in the area can learn about local Black history.
